Josh was born and raised on the Scottish island of Bute before joining the UK armed forces at the tender age of sixteen in a quest for travel & adventure, seeing service in the Middle East, Africa and the Balkans. After eleven years “globetrotting” he left the military for a career in television news, taking him to some of the world’s most dangerous places, beaming back the news live via satellite and winning various awards in the process with Sky News (Afghanistan, Iraq & Kosovo) and Aljazeera English covering the Arab Spring.
His photography journey began in 2017 after redundancy from the Aljazeera English Channel in Qatar, where he covered global events including Europe, Egypt, Libya, Syria; the Maidan Revolution in Ukraine and the onset of the war in Donbas, the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, US Presidential elections in DC and the funeral of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela in South Africa.
His photography has been featured by the Sony Alpha Universe and he’s often found in the Arctic Circle capturing the magic of the north, when not begging for a photo pass to shoot images of his favourite bands in concert or hiking up a mountain to chase the sunrise.
